ARTIST BIO

David Aschenbrener
Born 1966, Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Education – University of Wisconsin Stout

Even as a small child, David took refuge in creating, often isolating himself from others for hours or even days in pursuit of artistic expression. As he grew, he found himself yearning to see and experience more of the natural world around him

What would become David’s medium of choice was made clear to him while studying Fine Art at UW-Stout. His instructors observed his technique of “painting sculpture” and urged him to continue experimenting with his work in bronze. He took their counsel to heart as he obtained his degree and traveled from coast to coast, exploring natural forms in the deserts and oceans, and using these wonders as his most significant inspiration.

After spending years perfecting his craft while working in fine art foundries around the country (and with the help of many mentors along the way), David has developed a technique that he uses today to cast his sculptures. Namely, a skill and style in working with “lost wax.”
